Applied Geophysics

The use of the subsurface as a thermal, electrical or material storage could alter the geological subsurface. The understanding of the impact is critical for a realisation of a subsurface storage.

The geophysical contribution includes:

  • the description of the geological structure,
  • the characterisation of geological units and faults and
  • the development of a monitoring scheme for a thermal storage.

Several experiments were conducted:

  • active seismic and geoelectrical measurements at to tests sites with possible faults
  • geoelectrical and GPR measurements in labortory and in the GeoModel.
